Donation in memory of Giraldis (GAGS) Armstrong

Donation in memory of Giraldis (GAGS) Armstrong For the first time in 8 years the Llanelli Fire Station held an Open Day and it was decided that the proceeds be split between the Fire Fighters Charity and a local charity.

Last year the Station lost a dear colleague and friend, Giraldis (Gags) Armstrong, who sadly passed away after bravely fighting illness for over a year. During this time he received very valuable and compassionate treatment from the Ty Bryngwyn staff.

It was strongly felt by all the staff at the Station that the local charity chosen should be Ty Bryngwyn Hospice. A total of £500 was therefore donated from the Open day and a further £250 from the Fire Brigades Union.

After agreement with Mr Mike Lewis, who presented the cheques to Susan Thomas, the £750.00 donation has been put towards the Ty Bryngwyn 2011 Festival of Light event in memory of Mr Giraldis Armstrong.

Our sincere condolences are extended to his wife, family, friends and colleagues.
