n 1st October at Ty Bryngwyn Hospice, Mr Richard Barnes (Chairman) and I were pleased to donate a cheque for £1,110.00 to Mr David Craddock, Chairman, Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Fundraising Committee. The monies were raised from a football event held by Caerbryn Football Club on 31 August 2019 in memory of Craig Bennett known to the Club as “Benny”. The game was played by fellow players of Benny’s during his career. Several even came out of retirement, some of whom were strapped up to the hilt, but they gave it their best against Caerbryn’s current squad and managed to secure a victory.
On the day of the match we felt that all the players were winners - the celebration of Benny’s life was a great success. He was a stand out member of our Club and was admired by all that shared the pitch with him. It was a pleasure to put on such an event in his honour as we know how committed he was and how much he loved his football.
Ty Bryngwyn Hospice supported Benny through difficult times and the support and care given was second to none – a very deserving Hospice to support.
As a Club we would like to send special thanks to Allison of Allison’s Snack Bar in Capel Hendre, Wyn “spot” Hughes Haulage of Penygroes who contributed towards the food for the BBQ on the day and also took time out to work at the event; Annie, Dilwyn and Emma for helping with refreshments; Caerbryn Committee Simon James and Huw Preece for donating a signed football shirt; Mandip of Badgers Steak House and Grill in Blaenau and Enclosure Tech of Ammanford.
We would also like to thank all the players and supporters who attended; the Chairman and I worked to put the event together and are over the moon with the support and the response we received.
