DAFFODIL FAYRE

DAFFODIL FAYRE – THURSDAY 11 APRIL 2024

Tŷ Bryngwyn Hospice Trust Fundraisers wish to announce that a Daffodil Fayre is taking place on Thursday 11 April 2024 in the Lliedi Suite, Selwyn Samuel Centre, Llanelli from 1030 to 1230pm. This annual and very successful fundraising event was last held before the pandemic in March 2020 and the Hospice Committee are delighted to be able to revive this very special occasion.

Tickets cost £5 which includes refreshments. There will also be a raffle and various stalls and entertainment will be provided by the renowned Llanelli Ukuele Players.

LEWIS DYLAN THOMAS – CHEQUE PRESENTATION TY BRYNGWYN HOSPICE

At the Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli on Thursday 17 January 2024 Lewis Dylan Thomas presented a cheque for £1,860 to the Trustees namely Mr David Craddock (Chairman), Cllr Andrew Stephens (Vice Chairman) and Mrs Audrey Jenkins. Prior to this Lewis gave a detailed and eloquent talk to the Committee Members detailing his fundraising efforts and the fact that this will support his application for a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

Our thanks go to Lewis and his mother Annmarie and to all those who supported and gave of their time and expertise towards this very successful venture.

PRESENTATION FIVE ROADS AND DISTRICT WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

CHRISTMAS FAIR – 25 NOVEMBER 2023

On 17 January 2024 at the Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli, Mrs Glenda Humphreys and Mrs Vicky Garfoot along with other members of the WI presented a cheque for £700 to Mr David Craddock, Chairman, Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Trust Fundraising Committee. This magnificent sum was raised at a Christmas Fair held at the Five Roads Village Hall on Friday 25 November 2023. There were a variety of stalls and refreshments and all proceeds raised were in aid of Ty Bryngwyn Hospice.

Grateful thanks are extended to the Five Roads W I for their generous and continuing support.

CARMARTHENSHIRE INNER WHEEL – COFFEE MORNING

4 NOVEMBER 2023
ST PETERS HALL, CARMARTHEN

Tŷ Bryngwyn Hospice Appeal Fundraisers were invited to have a table at the Carmarthenshire Inner Wheel Coffee Morning on 4 November 2023. The Mayor of Carmarthen opened the event at 10am and entertainment was provided by the Carmarthen Ukeleles Players.

It was a very enjoyable morning and £231.00 was raised. Our grateful thanks go to the President, Nancy Evans, for her invitation and warm welcome and to Sue Nesbitt for donating 2 beautiful quilts to raise even more funds for the Appeal.

This was the second year an invitation has been received – in 2022 at an equally enjoyable event £157 was raised.

20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE IN PATIENT UNIT

SUNDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2023 – TY BRYNGWYN HOSPICE

A Service was held at Ty Bryngwyn Hospice and lead by the Rev Euryl Howells, Senior Chaplain HDUHB, in the presence of staff, trustees and fundraisers. Following the introduction Sarah Cameron, Head of Community Nursing, placed a lantern and roses were placed to represent the emotion of the journey and to commend patients, family and friends, trustees and fundraisers. This was followed by a reading by Susan Thomas after which Hospital Notes Choir sang during the interval. There then followed a refreshment break and the cutting of the Celebration Cake (kindly donated by Jenkins Bakery along with biscuits and cupcakes provided by Morrisons and Marks and Spencer).

Finally a moment of reflection and thanksgiving, a poem read by Staff Nurse Sue Gully before a final blessing.
