20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE IN PATIENT UNIT

SUNDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2023 – TY BRYNGWYN HOSPICE

A Service was held at Ty Bryngwyn Hospice and lead by the Rev Euryl Howells, Senior Chaplain HDUHB, in the presence of staff, trustees and fundraisers. Following the introduction Sarah Cameron, Head of Community Nursing, placed a lantern and roses were placed to represent the emotion of the journey and to commend patients, family and friends, trustees and fundraisers. This was followed by a reading by Susan Thomas after which Hospital Notes Choir sang during the interval. There then followed a refreshment break and the cutting of the Celebration Cake (kindly donated by Jenkins Bakery along with biscuits and cupcakes provided by Morrisons and Marks and Spencer).

Finally a moment of reflection and thanksgiving, a poem read by Staff Nurse Sue Gully before a final blessing.

SELWYN SAMUEL CENTRE FAIR

Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Fundraisers, Mrs Liz Riby-Evans and Mrs Yvonne Davis, were given a stall to raise funds at the Selwyn Samuel Centre Fair on Saturday 22 April 2023. The sum of £50.50 was raised and grateful thanks go to Joanne for her generous support.

BRYN WI PRESENTATION

On 5 April 2023 Bryn WI Members welcomed Susan Thomas, Audrey Jenkins, Jan Morgan and Marilyn Brennan to their meeting at Bryn Hall. Susan gave members a short talk about the history of Ty Bryngwyn Hospice and how funds are raised before Bryn W I Vice President, Jane, presented a cheque for £260 raised through a variety of activities throughout the past year.

STRATFORD UPON AVON CAMBRIAN SOCIETY ANNUAL 75TH ANNIVERSARY ST DAVID’S DAY LUNCH – 5TH MARCH 2023

On Sunday 5th March 2023 in The Alveston Manor, Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Stratford-Upon-Avon Cambrian Society held their St David’s Day 75th Anniversary Lunch which was a huge success. The Guest Speaker, Mr Huw Edwards BBC, entertained the Society with a talk full of wit, laughter and anecdotes.

The raffle in aid of Ty Bryngwyn Hospice raised the amazing amount of £547 and the Committee decided to add £200 to this amount which was Huw’s only request for his services.

On 29 March 2023 in Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Llanelli Mrs Margot Newman, one of the Society’s Committee Members, was warmly welcome by the Fundraisers and Medical Staff and presented a cheque for £750 which was gratefully received.
