Dr John Scott Lewis
1928 – 2014
The Trustees and staff of the Hospice were saddened to hear that on 3rd November 2014 Dr John Scott Lewis, former Chairman of Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Trust, passed away after a long illness.
Mr Huw Edwards, President of the Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Trust, said that John was a wonderful man and an inspirational figure who will be greatly missed.
Dr John was a highly respected GP in Llanelli since the late 1950s when he moved to the town.
In 1986 he was one of the pioneers whose aim it was to build and equip a Hospice in Llanelli, and much thanks is given for his hard work in making this come to fruition.
He is remembered and deeply missed by all his family, friends, former colleagues and patients.
We are grateful for Rev Meirion Evans to allow us to publish his tribute to Dr John which he specially wrote and read in Welsh at his funeral in Adulam Chapel, Felinfoel.
In Memorium
Doctor John Lewis
Deep in his soul dwelt Rhondda recollections
He gave his hands to heal our condition,
He lent his ear to our little scruples,
Today he himself has arrived at his sanctuary

Rhoi clust i’n anhwylustod, i’n gwaeledd
